MATHS TEACHERS: START SURVEY HERE

We're inviting 1,000 maths teachers from all year levels and backgrounds to participate in a project on improving student engagement in maths classes.

It involves a short survey to consider how a teacher’s relationship with students impacts learning, and the value professional learning brings to teachers.

As a second step, teachers can explore a free licence on the Pivot platform - enabling you to share an anonymous survey link with their maths students to take part in the Pivot Student Survey on Teaching. It's a simple process that will only take students 5 minutes to complete - and each maths teacher will receive their own confidential, personalised insights report highlighting teaching strengths and recommended PL next steps to maximise student engagement.

All participants will also receive an invitation to targeted professional learning on growing student engagement in maths based on the findings of the research, in early 2023.

Working with AAMT and AMSI, this national research will allow us to understand what makes for good maths teaching and maths learning experience from the perspective of both the student and the teacher.

We will then provide practical advice and strategies to maths teachers, school leaders, and system leaders to enable maximum student engagement in maths learning and develop excellence in maths teaching.

Who has commissioned the project?

The project is being undertaken by Pivot Professional Learning in collaboration with our partners, the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT) and the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI).

What is involved in participating in the project?

The initial teacher survey will take around 10 minutes to complete.
Participating in the Pivot student survey is optional; the survey usually takes student 5 minutes to complete. Your results reports are available immediately after your survey closes and are confidential to you.

Who can take part
in the project?

All teachers who currently teach maths in Australian and New Zealand schools
are invited to take part in this project.
